50 Days: Gingerbread Cookies

You may be wondering what is the best part about  Gingerbread cookies? Well, I think it is fairly obvious,... Its cutting the cookies into the fun shapes, like Gingerbread men and women and houses. Also, a pretty great part is eating the fresh-baked, homemade, piping hot Gingerbread cookies.
I love making these holiday treats. They taste so good. I thoroughly enjoy the spiciness of the cookie and how the soft cookie melts in your mouth. If you have not tried these wonderful creations, you gotta try it. I will post a link to a great recipe online at the end of the posting.

I remember fondly helping make Gingerbread Men cookies at home with Mom during the holidays. I remember how funny it was that we had a huge gingerbread man cookie cutter, and the a set of christmas cutters that were considerably smaller. I always wanted to use the large cutter because that meant that I got to eat larger cookies. It was fun to play with these cookies when they were finished because there would be huge gingerbread men (much like a scene in Shrek- or was it Shrek 2) and then little cookies of candy canes and reindeer. Ah, the good ol days.

We used to go to a small amusement park in SoCal called Santa's Village and they had the best giant soft gingerbread men. You could smell them baking all over the park and there was always a line waiting for them to be done. We found a recipe that tastes exactly the same, sooo goood! =)
